Elmbridge Employment Needs Assessment
This assessment is aimed at informing the debate
about the expected growing and declining sectors, the
associated employment floorspace requirements and the
current and emerging policy context in the Borough of
Elmbridge. This will involve profiling and
forecasting labour demand and supply, which will be
converted into an equivalent employment land
requirements. Consultation with a variety of
local stakeholders will input into the
forecasts. GWE Research will also use their
Employment Land Review Model to reconcile the
employment land demand and supply, now and in the
future.
Buckinghamshire Employment Land Review
GWE Research has been commissioned alongside
Development Planning and Design Services Consulting
Group (DPDS) to undertake an employment land review
of Buckinghamshire. This project will provide
the Local Authorities of Buckinghamshire with a
robust evidence base in order to allow them to manage
their land supply, encourage appropriate economic
development and provide a basis for forthcoming local
and regional spatial strategy development. The
existing employment land position will be established
through site appraisals and assessments by
DPDS. GWE Research will forecast the future
land requirements through a employment forecasts for
each of the Districts, drilling down into the key
sectors driving future growth. The final stage
will involve a reconciliation of employment land and
supply to determine a final land requirement for each
District.
Business Leaders Somerset Evaluation
GWE Research has been commissioned to undertake an
evaluation of the Business Leaders Somerset
programme, which delivers leadership and management
training to local business managers and
directors. The project seeks to establish the
effectiveness of the programme through a series of
surveys.
South East Business Links
GWE Research is currently working on an Understanding
and Awareness Survey on behalf of the Business Links
in the South East of England. The aim of this
research is to ascertain knowledge and perceptions of
Business Link services and activities on the part of
small and medium-sized businesses, as well as other
business support organisations. The results of
the survey will be used to inform future Business
Link marketing and policy development.
Devon Public Product Economic Impact Model
GWE Research has been commissioned by Devon County
Council to produce an economic impact model and
toolkit to aid the development of projects aimed at
improving the public product in the county. The
aim of this exercise is to produce an easy-to-use,
yet accurate toolkit, which enables an improvement in
the quality of funding bids, as well as their long
term monitoring and evaluation. Once complete,
the model will be capable of producing an economic
impact assessment for almost any type of regeneration
project, from cycle paths to town centre
improvements.
Netmap – Building Innovation Capacity
GWE Research has launched a website to help encourage
innovation through networking. It is the first of its
kind bringing together tailored, useable resources
specifically aimed at business networks. Offering a
series of tailored tools, process frameworks and
publications, Netmap aims to help networks share best
practice lessons and actively drive innovation. The
project is part of Inspire South West, a £4
million programme to promote innovation across the
region, jointly funded by SWRDA and the ERDF. To

West Wiltshire Employment Land Assessment
GWE Research are working alongside DPDS Consulting to
produce a full Employment Land Review in West
Wiltshire District. The study will follow the 3-stage
government guidance on conducting Employment Land
Reviews. This will involve a review of the existing
stock of employment land, forecasting future
employment requirements and reconciling the
employment land demand and supply data. The
conclusions from this analysis will form part of the
evidence base for the West Wiltshire Local
Development Framework and make recommendations for
the future direction of planning policy.
